St Helen's girls enjoy a broad range of activities beyond those available in the classroom, and the school day is organised to accommodate a great many co-curricular activities during lunchtimes as well as after school. Every day girls can be found engaging in activities which genuinely broaden their experiences and horizons, from the Heath Robinson Inventors’ Club, Model United Nations and Wildlife Club to a vast array of opportunities to get involved in elite and social sport, music and drama.
Our unique relationship with Merchant Taylors’ School allows our girls to enjoy joint ventures with the MTs’ boys, including the Combined Cadet Force, the Phab programme, and joint concerts and productions.
Adventure and leadership opportunities abound and our Upper School girls can participate in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. Drama features strongly at St Helen’s, and girls are involved in all aspects of production in annual musicals, plays and devised pieces. Budding entrepreneurs participate in the Young Enterprise scheme. Supporting others is embedded within the St Helen’s culture and all girls raise significant amounts for charities at community events (such as our annual Calendar Sale) and participate in a range of community service projects.
At St Helen’s, girls are never pushed into doing co-curricular activities but are strongly encouraged to extend their own boundaries, try new experiences and explore new ideas, even to the point of creating new activities or clubs. The wealth of opportunities means that there is something for everyone, and the hardest part is often curtailing their enthusiasm for trying to do everything at once!
