Sun, fun and (Alumnae vs Girls) games… the St Helen’s Big BBQ

We couldn’t have been luckier with the weather for our annual Big BBQ organised by the Development Office. Guests enjoyed a September heatwave, friendly and competitive lacrosse and netball matches and a fabulous barbecue. Normally played on separate occasions, this is the first time we have amalgamated the two fixtures into a one day event.

Spectators included parents, Alumnae and friends of St Helen’s. The PE department was out in force and staff enjoyed catching up with former pupils. It was great to see so many guests some of whom are parents of alumnae, including former Governor Janet Kirchheimer (parent of two alumnae, and herself class of 1969). Janet is a great supporter of lacrosse and we were honoured that she officially opened our all-weather pitch two years ago.

As for the matches both were closely fought but the Alumnae team took the cup for lacrosse and the Girls took the cup for the netball.

A special thank you to our student players, our staff who made the event possible and our volunteer Alumnae captains Giselle Billeter (lacrosse) and Helen Seaman (netball) for their generous support.
