Mindfulness on World Mental Health Day

As part of World Mental Health Day, the Prep School participated in a mindfulness session led by the teachers. The whole school sat together focussing on being aware of their breathing and creating a sense of calm.

“Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment. We also gain immediate access to our own powerful inner resources for insight, transformation, and healing.” – Jon Kabat-Zinn

Quotes from the girls:

“Calm”, “happy” and “ready to enjoy the activities at school”. Nursery

‘I felt calm and relaxed’ Year 3

‘The mindfulness session reminded us how a frog stays still and how they can be similar to humans. So we stayed still like a frog. We felt relaxed and could feel our breathing on the inside. We focused on breathing out too. We closed our eyes and concentrated. After a tranquil end we were relaxed for the next lesson. I was glad that we did mindfulness and I can’t wait to do it again.” Year 4

‘I felt calm and relaxed and I could feel some fizzing in my feet – now I feel happy.’ Year 6
