Year 6 embrace life in the 1940s at the RAF Museum

Year 6 stepped back in time as they visited the RAF Museum in Hendon where they had an opportunity to dress up as an evacuee for the day and took part in a Wartime classroom workshop.

The activities involved an arithmetic lesson based on pounds, shillings and pence as well as using a real ink pen with blotting paper.  The girls also experienced learning about the evacuation process and were shocked to hear they would be forced to leave the country that day when they received their evacuation labels during the exercise.

Girls were fully absorbed and focused and found experiencing life as a school child in the 1940s, incredibly thought-provoking.
