A young poet in the making

Our very talented pupil, Avneet in Year 2, entered the 2019 Spirited Arts and Poetry competition over the summer holidays.

The judges were overwhelmed by the volume and quality of the entries they received. Avneet was clearly a winner for her considerate and poignant understanding at the tender age of 6.  Her poem is called “What is our Present?”  which recognises that each human being is a gift from God and acknowledges family, friends, working hard and most importantly living in the moment.

Avneent enjoys writing in her spare time and is certainly wise beyond her years to be able to articulate such poetry. Avneet had the opportunity to recite her winning poem to her classmates and Mrs Lee proudly presented her certificate and prize for the winner of the 2019 Spirited Arts and Poetry competition. Brilliant work! To listen to Avneet’s poem click here.

What Is Our Present?

“Our present is a gift from God

without Him life would be odd.

Look after your body – it is your tool

Be healthy and work hard at school.

Our present is a gift from God

Without Him life would be odd.

Our family support us everyday

And friends we love for fun and play.

Our present is a gift from God.

Without Him life would be odd.

Our past we can learn from

And our future we must work on.

Our present is a gift from God

Without Him life must be odd.

Don’t waste your time here

Take on every challenge and never fear!”
