Our badminton team thrashed their way through the National Schools Championships with St Helen’s winning the 1st round. Showing great skill and technique they finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd out of the 24 girls competing in the Herts and Middlesex elite tournament! Well done girls.
The U13, U16 and U19 trio teams travelled to Streatham and Clapham High School for the regional round of the British Schools Gymnastics Association Milano Team Trio competition. Despite the nerves the girls were excited as they prepared to perform their individual routines on floor and vault and their group routine. Strong performances all round with the U16 gymnasts finishing 11th in their first major competition. Well done Lara, Eleanor and Devina.
The U13 girls started their competition with the group floor exercise. Competing alongside Surbiton High School, they performed a beautiful group routine, full of confidence and received some very high scores. Similarly on the vault, strong performances and scores in what was a highly competitive field. A great achievement by Libby, Chiara and Sowmiya who finished 5th.
Later that afternoon it was the turn of our U19 gymnasts to compete. They were determined to perform well having been partnered against tough opponents who had successfully competed in the Nationals seven times. After strong individual and group floor routines and precise vaulting, the girls finished 2nd! A tremendous achievement – they have now qualified for the Nationals representing the London region in March. Well done to Chloe, Nadine and Alex!
