We were delighted to receive our Gold STARS award from Hillingdon Council and TfL last week. Building on this incredible achievement, our Youth Travel Ambassadors visited Brunel University to take part in the annual STARS pupil conference. The theme of the event was to promote safe and responsible travel, which is also the focus of the YTA’s weekly extra-curricular meetings.
The day culminated with students from each school bidding for funds for their proposed projects and initiatives presenting to an audience of over 50 in a Dragon’s Den style format. The ‘Dragons’ included the Chief of Town Planning Officer for Hillingdon Council and the Hillingdon Cabinet Committee Member for Planning and Transport.
Our pupils presented confidently and were praised for their originality and ‘thinking outside the box’ for their ideas. The judges were so impressed, they awarded the girls even more funding than they had originally pitched for! Well done to Sadana, Keisha, Angelina, Chelsea, Lalita, Ria, Riyah and Jenany for an incredible performance and for their continued efforts to encourage us all to make active travel choices. We look forward to seeing these initiatives evolve and become a reality soon!
