Wind, Brass and Percussion workshop at RAF Northolt

Thirty members of the Big Band and Concert Band travelled to RAF Northolt for a workshop with RAF Central Band. The morning session involved a jazz workshop, during which girls practised their improvisation skills and were guided with expert tuition. Our musicians were also given a presentation on RAF careers as musicians providing real insight into the profession.

In the afternoon, the girls collaborated with the RAF Central Band to rehearse two pieces; the Pridelands Suite from the Lion King and a Queen medley. It was an incredible experience and the sound and quality produced were of a very high standard. The day culminated in a CD recording of all pieces that had been worked on throughout the day and we look forward to hearing the finished product.

The Music Department is very grateful to the RAF Central band for providing such a unique and worthwhile experience for our students. We very much hope to be able to visit again in the future.
