We were delighted and honoured to welcome artist and sculptor Steve Pollock to St Helen’s, who generously hosted a masterclass on how to mould rainforest animals using clay.
Year 2 pupils were thrilled to get messy creating clay sculptures of some of the animals and birds that can be found in the rainforest. They learned about the four layers of the rainforest in Geography and where in the world they can be found. It was great fun observing the toucans and frogs more closely enabling them to bring these creatures into the classroom through the medium of clay as well as studying different natural and man-made materials in Science.
