Thanks to the incredible generosity of the St Helen’s Network of parents and staff, we have been able to deliver thousands of pounds worth of nearly-new educational play equipment to one of our partner schools, Greenfields Primary, in South Oxhey – part of our community engagement programme, where we partner with local schools in the area to enrich and inspire students’ educational experience, whilst fostering a sense of shared community.
Greenfields Primary School and community have been overwhelmed by the incredible support shown by the St Helen’s Network, with Headmistress Kate Day describing the arrival of the donations as “feeling like Christmas has come early!”.
Our diligent porters, Rob and Barney, who have worked tirelessly, have made numerous trips to deliver various equipment to the school, collecting larger items directly from parents’ houses. Even the odd challenge of getting the truck stuck in a muddy field during one delivery, was not going to defeat them, so determined were they to assemble the outdoor Wendy house for the children! “It has been a pleasure helping the local community in times of crisis and seeing how St Helen’s School can come together for a good cause.”
Donations have included an overwhelming number of winter coats, waterproofs, and wellington boots to enable Greenfields students to play outside with the appropriate clothing for the winter months ahead. One family at St Helen’s even bought 60 brand new waterproof all-in-one suits to kit out the entire Reception class for outdoor play. Our generous PTA has also kindly donated numerous green tracksuit bottoms for the Nursery and Reception children, which fortuitously match their green uniform perfectly.
From Wendy houses, slides, trampolines, football goal posts, water and sand play equipment to a plethora of bikes, scooters, toy prams, small tables and chairs, free standing easels, gardening equipment, classroom resources and dressing up outfits, we are proud to have come together as a community with Greenfields Primary School.
Thank you to all the families at St Helen’s who reached out to offer support enabling us to bring much joy and happiness to the children. There is so much more we can do to support our partner schools and indeed our local community and we are excited to work together on many more similar projects going forwards.
