Thinking outside of the (toy) box. As Picasso said, “Every act of creation begins with an act of destruction” and Year 10 GCSE Art students relished the opportunity to prove him correct.
‘Supertoys’, a creative workshop, introduced students to the practice of Assemblage – art that is made by assembling disparate elements, often everyday objects – and the conceptual history and thinking behind the art form.
Students playfully dismembered and reconfigured old toys into fascinating and witty new objects enabling them to ask questions about our attachment to toys and explore new ways of seeing and telling. Fabulous creative work girls!
