Very little can beat appearing on Blue Peter as a child. Shanti in Year 9, did just that and more as she took part in the ‘You’re in Charge of the Show’ feature recently, part of a fan club takeover as they were given free rein to set the editorial agenda for the programme.

The thrilling experience involved travelling up to Manchester, the home of CBBC, and working with the production team to set one of the presenters, Adam Beales, and an eco-challenge to ‘go green’ for a week to help protect the planet. Adam managed a carbon saving of 35.2 kilograms by running, walking and showering for less time each day – just some of the small changes we can all make to help the environment. Congratulations Shanti – this was an incredible challenge to set and you exuded confidence and articulated the results so brilliantly.
