Animal Farm A Level Composition

Talented Music Scholar, Sara in Year 13, has composed this wonderful musical interpretation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm for her A Level course.

The exam consisted of composing a programmatic piece for orchestra narrating the novel, to be performed at a literary festival in the Cotswolds dedicated to George Orwell. Leitmotifs had to be used to represent characters and key moments in the novel and pastoral settings depicted through folk influences, whilst also drawing influences from musical innovations in the late 19th Century.

Take a look at how Sara manages to bring this narrative theme to life through her composition, to illustrate how a group of animals came to take over the farm they live on.
