To kick start their transition to A Level, Year 11 students attended a ‘thinking skills’ workshop, led by internationally renowned author, academic and philosopher Dr Tom Chatfield. Fuelled by a breakfast of croissants and fruit smoothies in glorious sunshine, the girls were led through the core principles of critical thinking and challenged to dissect one another’s arguments by drawing on a range of fallacies, much to their enjoyment.
The session emphasised the importance of pausing to think, questioning information and using logic and rational reasoning to build an argument; skills which will undoubtedly serve the students well in their future A Level studies and beyond!
