Our Sixth Formers heard the very moving personal account of Rahima Mahmut, a Uyghur Muslim, who is the leading UK-based human rights campaigner for her people in China.

Rahima lectured on the rich cultural legacy of the Urghur people and their history under Chinese occupation. With a call to action, Rahima detailed the human rights violations in the region, including the widely reported concentration camps. In her words…

Students were honoured to host Rahima for lunch after the lecture, and discussed their responsibilities as global citizens in the face of such a catastrophe.
