We were thrilled to be able to invite an audience to our recent Chamber Concert, featuring a range of ensembles from all sections of the school, from Year 7 to Year 13. The quality and range of musicianship was evident to all and it was wonderful to be able to celebrate and enjoy the performances together again.
The concert began with a fantastic Piano Trio performance by composer Frank Bridge, featuring sensitive and expressive playing by Ariel, Pheobe and Summer. This was followed by some well-rehearsed and polished performances from a selection of ensembles including Intermediate Flute Choir, Flute Quartet and a Piano duet for fours hands by Keisha and Keira in Year 11.
The String Quartet performed two pieces by Schubert with a mature sense of style. It was fantastic to hear GCSE Music students Jenany and Mithura perform in the newly formed and student-led Carnatic Ensemble and they are to be commended for all their hard work in preparing for the performance. We were also treated to two Clarinet Trio performances. The first featured our Year 13 musicians; Saffron, Asha and Sophie, and the second featured Sophie and Riya, accompanied by our viola teacher Ms Kemp, who performed Andante from Mozart’s ‘Kegelstatt’ Trio. Both groups gave fantastic performances and demonstrated an impressive level of musicality.
To conclude the evening the Brass Ensemble performed a rousing rendition of ‘Tijuana Taxi’.
We are very proud of the achievements of our students and very lucky to be able to display such a range of instruments and talent across the school. Thank you to our talented performers and amazing Music Department.
