A day for smiles and congratulation at St Helen’s as we celebrate the outstanding A Level results of our Year 13 students.
We are delighted to share that 94% of our Y13 cohort achieved A*- B grades, compared to 76% in 2019 (the last public exam series pre-pandemic). 78% of all grades were A* and A (compared to 45% in 2019) and 43 girls achieved A*s and As across all their subjects.
In a year when nationally the exam boards are being urged to curb grade inflation and an estimated 80,000 fewer A* and A grades have been awarded than in 2021, these excellent results are testament to the hard work and perseverance of the girls in exceptional circumstances.
The girls have made the very most of all the exciting changes in our Sixth Form over the past three years and responded with enthusiasm to the commitment, expertise and dedication of our teachers.
The data indicates that we are in the top 5% of all schools nationally when comparing the progress made by our girls since GCSEs to that of students in all other UK Sixth Forms.
“Today really is the kind of day that you dream of as a Head. I am so proud of what our students have achieved and of their teachers who have enabled them to fulfil their potential. I am referring not only to those teachers who have taught them for two years of A Level, but to all the teachers who have worked with and supported the girls throughout their time at St Helen’s and helped shape them into the individuals they are today. 29 of this year’s Year 13 class are girls who have been with us since Prep School (some since Nursery!) and I believe this really demonstrates the value of an all-through all-girls school education.” Alice Lucas, Head
Armed with these outstanding grades, the girls are now going on to pursue a colourful range of degree courses at universities across the UK, from Modern Languages at Durham and Chemistry at Oxford, to Engineering at Warwick, History at Cambridge and Geography at St Andrews. 79% of the cohort are taking up places at their first-choice university, and ten students have secured places on Medical degrees which are more competitive than ever this year.
A huge congratulations to all our Year 13 leavers for an exceptional and very well-deserved set of results.
We wish you the very best for the next chapter of your lives and are looking forward to hearing all about your future adventures and achievements.
