Last month, our RAF Air Cadets from the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) joined with those from Merchant Taylors’ School for their Air Experience Flying training — a flight in the RAF’s training aircraft, the Grob Tutor.
Alongside an RAF pilot, cadets learned about the main cockpit instruments and also flew the aircraft themselves.
They learned how the controls operate the elevators, ailerons, and rudder to roll, pitch and yaw, plus the effects of g-force through aerobatic manoeuvres. This session is one of the highlights of an RAF cadet’s career.
The four cadets who took part – Sophie and Anisa, Archie and Suraj – immersed themselves in the experience and had a fantastic time.
