Our Year 6 recently performed a beautifully designed promenade production of the Lewis Carroll classic, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, to a full house in our theatre venue.
Alice, who falls down a rabbit hole and lands in a fantasy world that is full of strange and wonderful people and animals is a classic children’s book that is just as popular with adults, and there was something for everyone in this immersive performance.
The journey started in our theatre venue, The Centre, where the audience was asked to follow the lively characters around the school, enjoying the topsy-turvy world while joining in with the action and dancing. The Cheshire Cat’s wit and intelligence and the Mad Hatter’s eccentricity shone through.
Mad Matter: Have I gone mad?
Alice: I’m afraid so. You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.
The audience certainly enjoyed and added to the immersive excitement of this spectacle as they joined in with the characters, from Alice to the White Rabbit and the Queen of Hearts.
I daresay you haven’t had much practice, said the Queen. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.
Our Year 6 students have been working collaboratively on this production in their drama and music lessons for quite some time and have certainly created a colourful and enchanting show!
