Y11 students walk a marathon in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust

On the 9th of August Sadie, Lana, Kiran and Abigail, all Y11 students, set out to walk a marathon (26 miles/42km).

The group had chosen to take on the challenge to raise awareness around teenage cancer and to support the work of the Teenage Cancer Trust. Their route took them south from Rickmansworth through the picturesque Denham Country Park, through Uxbridge where they would then pick up the Grand Union Canal and follow it through to Southall.

It was a beautiful morning when the girls set off at just after 8:00 am and by the end of their journey, they had been walking for 8 hours and 25 minutes and, importantly, raised £2269. This amount was more than double what they had set out to raise and is a testimony to the tenacity and determination of the girls.

“We are very pleased to have been able to raise money to support a charity so important to us as a school community. “ – Sadie (Y11)

As a school we strive to equip our girls to ensure that they are ready to play a full and active part in their communities. We are immensely proud of Sadie, Lana, Kiran and Abigail for living out these values and for organising and completing this extraordinary accomplishment.
