Food is a vital part of any child’s development. We pride ourselves on our healthy attitude to diet, exercise and physical development.

We strongly believe that this is the foundation for a successful education and a healthy lifestyle for decades to come.

Encouraging a healthy diet

We are a healthy eating school, and all food is cooked from fresh, seasonal ingredients on site by our caterers, Holroyd Howe. The team are comprised of 25 full-time staff, including six professional chefs, working in two modern and well-equipped kitchens.  Between them, they serve over 1,000 meals every day!

We cater for a wide variety of dietary needs, including vegetarian and vegan diets. Allergies are always treated extremely seriously and are discussed with parents as required.

We encourage children to experiment with different foods so that they can develop their palettes; we regularly produce themed menus for special occasions and support school-wide initiatives, such as Green Week.

dining arrangements

Nursery to Year 2 eat their hot lunch in the Gables’ dining room at tables with their staff.  This time offers not only an opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal but also to learn the art of conversation and good table manners.

From Years 3-13, the pupils eat in the Senior School dining room which is a buffet service and has a wide range of options including a salad bar, several hot options and a range of delicious puddings as well as fresh fruit.

Pupils from Years 3 to 13 may also choose to bring a packed lunch.

In the Summer Term, Senior School pupils can opt to take a picnic lunch from the dining room to eat outside and enjoy the sunshine and the fellowship of their friends in a relaxed and beautiful setting.
